I think this is the best show I have ever photographed. It felt different at the time and showed once I started editing. I found myself applying different techniques when in the photo pit. Instead of just blasting away in my limited time, I tried to be more measured. Using the light show to my advantage, creating frames and making different compositions.
I have made myself some guidelines which I now find myself sticking to for each show, to create better photos. These are just my opinions, I should add.
1. Either one band member or all of them, no in-between.
2. Get close-ups, very close
3. More vertical than horizontal, new personal taste
4. Line artists up with backlit light, not spotlighted. Also, new personal taste
I passed these photos on to a larger Australia-wide heavy music website/blog/outlet. They liked them and my writing. I am going to be doing some paid (holy shit) work for them moving forward. It was a goal of mine to work with a bigger outlet this year.
Good job, a lot of good shots there Marc.
Incredible shots, dude. The last few with the blown out fog are unreal.
